The Qualitative Parameters of English Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia L.)

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem práce bylo popsat kvalitativní parametry levandule lékařské a její využití v potravinářství. V literárním přehledu je popsána historie, botanická charakteristika, podmínky pěstování a posklizňová úprava. Jsou popsány další druhy levandulí, které jsou nejčastěji pěstovány a využívají se i v potravinářství. Zmíněny jsou levandulové farmy v České republice, které uvádí na trh vlastní levandulové výrobky. Dále byly popsány obsahové látky levandule, metody získávání silic a podrobněji je popsána destilace vodní parou. Byly popsány léčivé, antimikrobiální a antioxidační účinky levandule lékařské. A možnosti využití levandule jako koření v potravinářství. V praktické části práce se věnovala pozornost celkovému množství silic, stanovenému s pomocí metody destilace vodní parou. Byly použity vzorky sušených květů levandule lékařské z Polní pokusné stanice MENDELU v Žabčicích. Množství naměřeného obsahu silic se srovnávalo s hodnotami v Českém lékopise.

Abstract:

The main goal of this work was to describe the qualitative parameters of English lavender and its use in the food industry. The literature review describes the history, botanical characteristics, growing conditions and post-harvest treatment. Other types of lavender, which are the most often grown and used in the food industry, are described. Lavender farms in the Czech Republic, which release their own lavender products on the market, are mentioned. Further lavender constituents, methods of obtaining essential oils and steam distillation are described in more detail. The medicinal, antimicrobial and antioxidant effects of English lavender have been described. And the possibility of using lavender as a spice in the food industry. In the practical part of the work, attention was paid to the total amount of essential oils, determined using the method of steam distillation. Samples of dried English lavender flowers from the MENDELU Field Experimental Station in Žabčice have been used. The amount of measured essential oil content has been being compared with the values in the Czech Pharmacopoeia.
