W. A. Mozart "The Marriage of Figaro" - a comprehensive set design of the opera

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje scénografickému i kostýmnímu řešení operyFigarova svatba od Wolfganga Amadea Mozarta a uvádí ji do dobovýcha kulturních souvislostí. Zároveň se zabývá předlohou Pierra-Augustina Carona deBeaumarchais. První část se soustředí na život zmíněných tvůrců, a to včetnědramatika Lorenza da Ponte, který napsal této opeře libreto. Hlavní část prácereflektuje kostým a dobové detaily jako významné prvky uplatňující se proscénografa na jevišti. Tato část se taktéž zaměřuje na porovnání aktuálněvytvořených kostýmů s dobovým oděvem osmnáctého století. Součástí tétokapitoly je i uvedení celého díla do kontextu doby, v níž vzniklo, neboť právěhistorické prvky jsou při tvorbě mého kostýmního i scénografického řešení zcelazásadní. V další části se potom práce zaměřuje na psychologii jednotlivýchpostav, která je důležitá pro tvorbu kostýmu a pro jeho další rozbor. Dále jsouv této práci rozebrány kostýmy všech postav a na závěr je uvedena celkováobhajoba kostýmního i scénografického řešení. Nakonec je zhodnocen celýproces tvorby.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis is devoted to the scenographic and costume design ofthe opera The Marriage of Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and introduces itinto the historical and cultural context. Equally it deals with the model of Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais. The first part focuses on the lives of theaforementioned creators, including the playwright Lorenzo da Ponte, who wrotethe opera's libretto. The main part of the work is a chapter on the reflection ofthe costume and on period details as important elements on stage. This part alsofocuses on comparing the created costumes with period clothing of theeighteenth century. Part of this chapter is also the introduction of the entire workinto the context of the time in which it was created, because the historicalelements are absolutely essential in the creation of my costume andscenographic solution. In the next part, the work focuses on the psychology ofthe individual characters, which is important for the creation of the costume andfor its further analysis. Furthermore, the costumes of all the characters areanalyzed in this work, and the overall defense of the costume and scenographicsolution is given at the end. Finally, the entire creation process is evaluated.
