Marketa Lazarová (1967, František Vláčil) is an extremely difficult film, which distorts viewer's ideas about classical storytelling and how a film image is supposed to look like. The bachelor thesis is focused on an analysis of this film as a modernist film according to film historian András Bálint Kovács and his book Screening Modernism: Europian Art Cinema 1950-1980.
