A fox as an character of fairy-tales

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá pojetím lišky v české lidové a autorské pohádce. Jejím cílem je srovnat charakteristiky této postavy a její funkce v narativu a zároveň najít odlišnosti (a shody) související s žánrovou specifikací. Práce má dvě části, teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na žánr pohádky, na její druhy a význam v dětském čtenářství. Dále je v ní vymezena literární postava a její možné typologie, blíže definovaná pohádková a antropomorfizovaná zvířecí postava, prostředky jejich interpretce a způsoby, jakými se na literární postavu dívá čtenář. Praktická část obsahuje rozbory čtyř pohádek, a to Pták Ohnivák a liška Ryška, O Budulínkovi, Co mi liška vyprávěla od Jiřího Mahena a Olin a lišky od Eduarda Petišky. Na základě dílčích interpretací je pak v závěrečné srovnávací kapitole charakterizovaná postava lišky jako literární typ a vymezená její lidová a autorská varianta.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with notion of a fox in Czech folk and contemporary fairy tales. Its goal is to compare this character's traits and its function in the narrative. It also seeks differences (and similarities) of this function's genre specification. The thesis consists of two parts: a theoretical and a practical one. Focus of the theoretical part is on the fairy tale genre, its flavors and its impact on a child reader. This part contains also a definition of a literary character and its possible typologies, a closer definition of an anthropomorphic animal character, means of their interpretation and reader's points of view on a literary character. The practical part contains analyses of four fairy tales: Pták Ohnivák a liška Ryška (The Firebird and Red the fox), O Budulínkovi (Bad Boy: The story of Budulínek), Co mi liška vyprávěla (What a fox told me) by Jiří Mahen and Olin a lišky (Olin and the foxes) by Eduard Petiška. Based on particular interpretations, the final comparison chapter then characterizes a fox as a literary character type and defines its folk and contemporary variety.
