Magnetic anisotropy of shales from the Brdy Cambrian

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá studiem magnetických staveb slabě deformovaných hornin jineckého souvrství příbramsko-jinecké pánve situované v jižní části bohemika zhruba 40 km jz. od Prahy. Pro účely studie orientací magnetických staveb byla měřena anizotropie magnetické susceptibility na 111 orientovaných vzorcích odebraných jednak v břidlici, jednak v rámci jedné lokality v psamitu. Pro zjištění nositel magnetizace byla použita metoda měření velikosti susceptibility v závislosti na teplotě. Pro přímé určení minerálních fází byla provedena základní rtg fázová analýza. V břidlicích je magnetická stavba řízena čistě paramagnetickými minerály (chlorit, slída, albit). V psamitu jsou nosičem magnetizace převážně paramagnetické minerály (kaolinit, slída) a z části ovlivněna minoritním obsahem feromagnetického minerálu goethitu. V břidlicích byla zjištěna silná sedimentární kompakční stavba, na kterou je naložena stavba deformační. Deformační stavbu se projevuje silně vyvinutou přednostní orientací magnetické lineace ve směru SV-JZ. Směr magnetické lineace dobře souhlasí se směry os vrás v oblasti a je tedy kolmý na směr zkrácení. V psamitech byla zjištěna slabá magnetická lineace ve směru ZSZ-VJV. Rozdílná orientace od sledovaného sv-jz. trendu v břidlicích má spojitost s lokální přízlomovou deformací. Na 14 vzorcích břidlice byla spočítána elipticita deformace R z trilobitů a korelována se shodným parametrem L elipsoidu anizotropie. Korelací byla zjištěna lineárně rostoucí závislost, která však je statisticky nevýznamná. Velikost deformace nelze statisticky významně korelovat s velikosti AMS z důvodu příliš malých velikostí deformací území.

Abstract:

This work is focused on the study of the magnetic fabric of weak deformed Cambrien sedimentary rocks of the Jince Formation, which is part of the Příbram-jince Basin, situated in the southern part of Behemikum, around 40 km southwest of Prague. For the purposes of a magnetic orientation study, 111 samples were collected from shales and psammite. Temperature variation within magnetic susceptibility measurements were used for identifying the magnetic carrier of individual rocks. Basic X-ray analysis was conducted in order to determine the exact mineral phase. The paramagnetic minerals (chlorite, mica, albit) control magnetic susceptibility in shales. Magnetic susceptibility of the psammite rocks is mainly carried by paramagnetic minerals (kaolinit, mica), but it is also influenced by ferromagnetic mineral goethite. Magnetic fabric strongly influenced by diagenetic compaction was found to have developed in the shales. On this fabric was also found a loaded magnetic fabric of deformation origin. This fabric displays a strong magnetic lineation which is oriented to a NW-SW direction. The orientation of magnetic lineation is in general agreement with the axis of the main folds present in the area. The magnetic lineation of psammite is oriented to a WNW-ESE direction. The different orientation is due to the local fault zone. The relation between the calculated magnitude of deformation, derived from deformed trilobites, and the magnitude of susceptibility was investigated. The elipticity deformation R with correlative parameter L of elipsoid susceptibility showed a linear regresion correlation, which is not statictically important. Correlating the magnitude of deformation with the magnitude of susceptibility is not possible due to the small amount of the magnitude of deformation in the study area.
