Economic relationships in a proto-industrial region at the end of the 18th century and in the first half of the 19th century

Abstract:

V osadě Koloredov stálo na přelomu 18. a 19. století množství úpravárenských podniků a dalších hospodářských zařízení, v nichž nacházeli své uplatnění místní, drobní podnikatelé, kteří se výrazně angažovali v rozvoji protoindustrializace v regionu. Práce se postupně věnuje mandlům, valchám, vinopalně, hostinci, šenku, židovské jídelně, koželužně, draslárně, kovárně a chlebovým boudám. Všechny tyto podniky byly vrchnostenské, a proto se ke všem dochovala poměrně obsáhlá agenda sestávající především z korespondence mezi vrchnostenskými úřady a pachtýři (nájemníky). Převážně spisová agenda přinesla zajímavý pohled do každodenních potřeb malých podnikatelů v protoindustriálním regionu Frýdecko-Místecka.

Abstract:

At the turn of the 19th century, the settlement of Koloredov was the site of numerous textile manufacturing workshops and other businesses providing a living for small-scale local tradespeople - a group that played an important role in the ongoing proto-industrialization of the region. This text focuses on a number of trades and businesses: mangles, fulling mills, a distillery, inns, a Jewish eating-house, a tannery, a potash works, a forge, and bread-shacks. All these businesses were ultimately owned by the local lord, and consequentially a relatively large quantity of correspondence between estate officials and the tenants has survived. These documents provide an interesting insight into the everyday needs of small-scale tradespeople in the proto-industrial Frýdek-Místek region.
