Slavic settlement in Brno-Medlánky

Abstract:

The topic of my master's thesis is the early medieval settlement in Brno - Medlanky. My task was to evaluate the archaeological material, to capture the spatial structure and development, and to reveal the practical, social and symbolic dimension of the settlement after the synthesis of all the discovered facts. Moreover, I thought about the relevance of the locality in the area of medieval Brno. The biggest quantity of ceramic material, as well as being the most important for my thesis, was processed using the database of J. Machacek in the programme Microsoft Office Access 2007. This helped me to date the settlement and consequently, based on quantification, to characterize individual properties of the complex and the complex as a whole. The results of this analysis are demonstrated using graphs and quantification tables. The rest of the findings are processed using descriptive models. I evaluated the structure, form and spatial development of the settlement using the ArcMap 10.5 programme.

Abstract:

Témou mojej magisterskej diplomovej práce je rane stredoveké sídlisko v Brne – Medlánkach. Mojou úlohou bolo vyhodnotiť archeologický materiál, zachytiť priestorovú štruktúru a vývoj, a po syntéze všetkých reálií odhaliť praktický, spoločenský a symbolický rozmer sídliska. Taktiež som sa zamyslel nad významom lokality v priestore rane stredovekého Brnenska. Najpočetnejší, a pre prácu najdôležitejší keramický materiál, som spracoval pomocou databázy J. Macháčka v programe Microsoft Office Access 2007. To mi pomohlo datovať sídlisko, a na základe kvantifikácie aj charakterizovať jednotlivé vlastnosti súboru aj súbor ako celok. Výsledky tejto analýzy som vyjadril pomocou grafov a kvantifikačných tabuliek. Ostatné nálezy som spracoval pomocou používaných deskriptívnych modelov. Pomocou programu ArcMap 10.5 som vyhodnotil štruktúru, podobu a priestorový vývoj sídliska.
