Analysis of coping with stressful situations in the employees of HZS Ostrava Airport

Abstract:

Práce se věnuje analýze zvládání stresových situací u výjezdových hasičů zaměstnaných na letišti v Ostravě. Teoretická část práce je zaměřena na popis práce letištních hasičů, možné nebezpečí, s kterým přicházejí do styku, právní rámec, kterým se musí řídit a psychické požadavky potřebné pro tuto práci. Dále je zde vysvětleno, co je to stres, jak funguje, jeho možné důsledky, copingové strategie a stres u hasičů. Praktická část se zaměřuje na stanovení výzkumných otázek a hypotéz, které se zkoumají pomoci jednoho standardizovaného a jednoho vytvořeného dotazníku. Práce ověřuje tyto hypotézy: H1: V subškálách SVF 78 se hasiči liší od průměrných hodnot běžné populace. H2: Škála negativních strategií vykazuje korelaci s mírou vnímaného nebezpečí. H3: Škála pozitivních strategií vykazuje korelaci s mírou vnímaného nebezpečí. První hypotézu je možné přijmout v případě subškál: podhodnocení, náhradní uspokojení, kontrola situace, pozitivní sebeinstrukce, vyhýbání se, perseverace, sebeobviňování. V těchto subškálách existují rozdíly mezi hasiči a běžnou populací. Druhá hypotéza potvrdila středně silnou pozitivní korelaci mezi negativními copingovými strategiemi a mírou vnímaného nebezpečí. Třetí hypotéza nepotvrdila souvislost mezi pozitivními strategiemi a mírou vnímaného nebezpečí.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on analysis how the active firemen at Ostrava Airport deal with stressfull situations. The theoretical part of this thesis is focused on giving a description on the airport firemen´s work, on a possible danger that they come into contac with, on legal standards that they have to comply with and on demands on their psyche that is necessary for their job. It is explained what is stress, in which way it works, implications o fit, coping strategy and firemen´stress. The practical part of this thesis deals with determination of research questions and hypothesis that are researched by a standardized and a created questionnaire. In my thesis are verified these hypothesis: H 1) subscale SVF 78 – firemen are different in population´s everage value. H 2) The scale of negative strategies shows correlation with a rate of feeling dangerous. H 3) The scale of positive strategies shows correlation with a rate of feeling dangerous. The first hypothesis is possible to accept in case of subscales: undervalue, alternative satisfaction, gain control over the situation, positive selfcontrol, avoiding, perseverace, self-accusing. There some differences between firemen and common population. The second hypothesis has confirmed medium strong positive correlation between negative coping strategies and a rate of feeling dangerous. The third hypothesis hasn´t confirmed a connection between positive strategies and a rate of feeling dangerous.
