Review of e-learning evaluation studies

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá evaluačními výzkumy e-learningových kurzů. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou část a na přehledovou studii. V teoretické části je nejprve definován e-learning a uvedeny jsou jeho charakteristické vlastnosti. Dále je popsána role učitele a role studenta v e-learningu a vysvětleny jsou pojmy související s e-learningem. Poté je vysvětlen rozdíl mezi pojmy evaluace, výzkum a evaluační výzkum. Následně jsou uvedeny kroky evaluace a popsány jsou některé problémy a proměnné, které se mohou v evaluačních výzkumech zkoumat. Dále jsou blíže popsány tři modely evaluace a uvedeny jsou nejčastěji používané výzkumné metody. Druhou části práce je přehledová studie, jejíž účelem je zjištění aktuálních trendů v oblasti evaluačních výzkumů e-learningových kurzů. V rámci přehledové studie je analyzováno 29 výzkumných článků. Zjišťována jsou mimo jiné nejčastěji zkoumaná témata, dále zkoumané proměnné či nejpoužívanější výzkumné metody.

Abstract:

This master thesis deals with evaluation studies of e-learning courses. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a review. In the theoretical part e-learning is defined and its characteristic features are listed. Furthermore, the role of the teacher and the role of the student in e-learning is described and the terms related to e-learning are explained. Then the difference between evaluation, research and evaluation study is explained. Subsequently, the steps of evaluation are listed and some issues and variables that can be examined in the evaluation studies are described. Next, three models of evaluation are described and the most commonly used research methods are listed. The second part of the thesis is a review, the purpose of which is to identify current trends in the field of e learning evaluation studies. In the review, 29 research articles are analyzed. Among other things, the most frequently studied topics are investigated, as well as the variables or most frequently used research methods.
