Possibilities of Using COBIT 4.1 for IT Auditors

Abstract:

Audit IS je dnes velmi frekventovaným termínem, který vyjadřuje současnou nutnost efektivně řídit IS, posuzovat dopady všech rozhodnutí a správné organizace informačního systému tak, aby byly splněny požadavky uživatelů, smluv, zákonů a jiných regulací. Metodika Cobit reprezentovaná Asociací Auditu a Kontroly Informačních Systémů (ISACA) je jedním z nástrojů, který dává jistý návod na co se zaměřit, pokud chceme zlepšit řízení informatiky v podniku. Prozkoumat možnost využití metodiky Cobit při auditu informačních systémů je hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce. Publikace v úvodní částí obecně seznamuje čtenáře s auditem a jeho vývojem. Ve druhé kapitole věnuje třem základním okruhům governance a více podrobně představuje IT Governance. Dále, ve třetí kapitole popisuje jak se podle jednotlivých etap provádí audit. V dalších dvou kapitolách věnuje samotné metodice a její komponentám a dokumentu IT Assurance Guide, což je součásti Cobit. V závěrečné kapitole práce ukazuje na příkladu možnost aplikace Cobit při auditu IS.

Abstract:

One of the most discussed topics in our days is Information Systems Audit, which represents the current need to effectively manage the Information Systems, assess the impact of all decisions and proper organization of Information Systems to meet user requirements, contracts, laws and other regulations. The Cobit methodology represented by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) and is one of the instruments, which makes possible to improve IT management in the enterprise. The main goal of the thesis is to explore the possibility of using the methodology of the Cobit for IT audit. The introductory part of the thesis is familiarize the reader with the audit and its development. The second chapter deals with three basic types of governance and in more detail presents IT governance. The third chapter describes the specific stages of implementation the audit. The next two chapters are devoted to the methodology itself and its components and deals with the document of IT Assurance Guide, which is part of the Cobit. In the final chapter it is demonstrated the possibility of applying Cobit in IT audit.
