Development of the Hotel Industry and its Impact on the Economy in a Given Region

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on the influence of hotel development on the economy in Horehronie, a region with a large number of accommodation and catering facilities. It´s a great location for monitoring the development of the hotel industry, since the tourism in this region is all year round rather than seasonal. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the development of hotel industry and its impact on the economy in the Horehron region within 5 years. We will collect data on business in the region, economic indicators such as employment, demographic development, income of the region. The thesis consists of three parts. The first part is the theoretical part, which provides an explanation of basic economic terms we will use in the practical part, historical development of hotel industry, professional definitions of basic concepts of the hotel industry, to introduce the subject. The second part is analytical with focus on research and comparison of quantitative indicators. Using Pearson coefficient, we found the correlation between economic indicators. In this thesis we used comparative analysis, which was carried out by researching economic data from various sources. The third part of the thesis consists of evaluation and explanation of the results, pointing out the importance of the development of the region, which includes the development of the hotel industry from various aspects.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca je zameraná na vplyv vývoja hotelierstva na ekonomiku v Horehronskom regióne, kde sa nachádza veľký počet ubytovacích a stravovacích zariadení. Je to výborná lokalita na sledovanie vývoja hotelierstva, nakoľko cestovný ruch v tomto regióne nie je len sezónny ale celoročný. Cieľom tejto práce je analyzovať vývoj podnikania v oblasti hotelierstva a jeho vplyv na ekonomiku v Horehronskom regióne v rozmedzí 5 rokov. Budeme zisťovať údaje o podnikaní v tomto regióne, ekonomické ukazovatele ako je zamestnanosť, demografický vývoj, príjmy regiónu. Práca pozostáva z troch častí. Prvou častou je teoretická časť, ktorá obsahuje vysvetlenie základných ekonomických pojmov, ktoré budeme využívať v praktickej časti, historický vývoj hotelierstva, odborné definície základných pojmov z hotelierstva, aby sme uviedli čitateľa do obrazu. Druhá časť práce je analytická, ktorá je zameraná na prieskum a porovnanie kvantitatívnych ukazovateľov. S použitím Pearsonovho koeficientu sme zistili závislosť medzi ekonomickými ukazovateľmi. V práci sme využili komparatívnu analýzu, ktorá bola realizovaná skúmaním ekonomických údajov z rôznych zdrojov. Tretiu časť tejto práce tvorí zhodnotenie a vysvetlenie výsledku práce, poukázanie na dôležitosť rozvoja regiónu, ktorého súčasťou je aj rozvoj hotelierstva a to z rôznych aspektov.
