Abstract:

Diploma thesis Cross-Curricular Links in English Coursebooks deals with the possibilities of the professional way of evaluation and choosing English coursebooks with the special intention to use the cross-curricular links and cross-sectional topics in foreign language teaching in one primary school. To achieve the most reliable results two techniques of action research with the direct connections to theoretical findings about the coursebook which provides the cross-curricular links are used. The research is based on the individual part judging and evaluating the occurence of cross-curricular links and cross-sectional topics in four English coursebooks available in one particular school and the collective part brings the evaluation of five coursebooks which are used by English teachers in various primary schools round the country. The result of the research is the decision about the usage of the particular coursebook which meets the criteria given by the research the best.
