The Brain Drain Phenomenon in the Segment of Czech Doctors

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá fenoménem brain drain v segmentu českých lékařů a klade si za cíl sumarizovat dostupné poznatky týkající personálních kapacit lékařů, jejich migračních pohnutek, určit rozsah fenoménu brain drain v segmentu českých lékařů a následně provést vlastní výzkumnou sondu zaměřenou na problematiku migrace českých lékařů. Teoretická část práce se zaměřuje na současný i budoucí vývoj personálních kapacit lékařů a problematiku mezinárodní migrace lékařů. Praktická část práce obsahuje výzkum mezi českými lékaři v zahraničí týkající se jejich pohnutek k odchodu do zahraničí a možností návratu a mezi lékaři v České republice zjišťující jejich důvody k setrvání či zvažování odchodu do zahraničí. Z analýzy zjištěných informací jsou formulovány vlastní závěry a doporučení týkají-cí se analyzovaného fenoménu.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the brain drain phenomenon in the segment of Czech doctors and aims to summarize the existing knowledge about the personnel capacities of physicians, their migration motives, to determine the extent of the phenomenon of brain drain in the segment of Czech doctors and subsequently to carry out a research focused on the issue of migration of Czech doctors. The theoretical part focuses on the current and future development of physicians' capacities and on the issue of international migration of physicians. The practical part of the thesis includes research among Czech physicians abroad about their motivation to go abroad and the possibility of returning to Czech Republic, and research among doctors in the Czech Republic focusing on their reasons for staying in the Czech system or considering working abroad. From the analysis of the information obtained, the own conclusions and recommendations concerning the analyzed phenomenon are formulated.
