Abstract:

Účelem této práce je přezkoumat literární vyobrazení vývoje postavy v raných dílech Jane Austenové – Rozum a cit a Pýcha a předsudek. Tato práce popisuje vývoj tří hlavních postav a u toho analyzuje jaký dopad má narativní struktura a vykreslení postavy na zobrazení vývoje dané postavy. Toto demonstruje rozdíly mezi těmito dvěma romány a také vývoj autorského stylu Jane Austenové. Pozornost je věnována také vnějším silám, které mají dopad na to, jak se postavy mohou ve svém světě vyvinout.

Abstract:

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the literary use of character development in Jane Austen’s earliest novels – Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice. The thesis follows the progression of three principal characters and notes the influence that narrative structure and character conception have on the execution of their character development. This demonstrates the differences between the two novels and Jane Austen’s evolution as a writer. Attention is also paid to in-world forces which cause the characters to develop in a distinct way.
