Self-Acceptance as Salutoprotective Agent within Personality

Abstract:

Vycházíme z předpokladu, že sebepřijetí patří mezi salutoprotektivní činitele na straně osobnosti. Sebepřijetí je jednou ze dvou globálních charakteristik sebehodnocení - emočního vztahu k sobě. Druhou charakteristikou je kompetentnost. Význam sebepřijetí spočívá v redukci úzkosti a množství prožívaného stresu, díky větší soudržnosti a integritě osobnosti. Protože nebyla nalezena vhodná metoda pro změření sebepřijetí, použili jsme Rosenbergovu škálu sebehodnocení a dále na české populaci poprvé aplikovaný Index sebeaktualizace. Hledali jsme souvislosti těchto metod s metodami měřícími zvládání stresu (nezdolnost) v pojetí Sense of Coherence a Hardiness. Na vzorku 260 osob ve věku 20 - 29 let jsme dále sledovali proměnné, jako je pohlaví, spiritualita a partnerství. Hlavní hypotézy byly potvrzeny zcela, vedlejší hypotézy o vlivu sociodemografických proměnných částečně. S jistými omezeními můžeme shrnout, že původní předpoklad práce byl potvrzen. Abstract:

We suppose self-acceptance belongs to salutoprotective agents within personality. Self-acceptance is one of two global characteristics of self-esteem - the emotional relationship to the Self. The second characteristic is self-competence. The meaning of self-acceptance consists in reduction of anxiety and experienced amounth of stress due to higher coherence and integrity of personality. Because the appropriate method for self-acceptance measurement have not been found, we used Rosenberg self-esteem scale as well as short Index of Self-Actualization used on Czech population for the first time. We were looking for relations between these methods and stress-coping measuring methods from the stand point of Sense of Coherence and Hardiness. On the pattern of 260 probands, 20 - 29 years old, we either observed the influence of variables like gender, spirituality and the partnership. The key hypothesis were absolutely confirmed, subordinate hypothesis about the influence of sociodemographic variables were confirmed partially. With certain limiting we can summarize original assumption was confirmed. This research additionaly contains an original Rosenberg Self-Esteem scale analysis
