Experience in the encounter group

Abstract:

Tato práce pojednává o prožitku v encounterové skupině a jeho významu pro oblast pomáhajících profesí. V teoretické části nejdříve ukazuje, že existují profese, kde vztahová nabídka a osobnost pomáhajícího jsou legitimní součástí profesních kompetencí. Poté se, ve zkratce, pokusí definovat prožitek a jeho význam v procesu učení. Dále představuje rogersovský přístup - přístup zaměřený na člověka - jakožto významný proud humanistické psychologie, který považuje vztah za ústřední bod veškeré terapeutické práce. Tento přístup tvoří teoretickou základnu, ze které encounterová skupina čerpá. Provede nás také vznikem, vývojem a postavením samotné encounterové skupiny, jakožto specifickým typem skupinové psychoterapie, někdy nazývané „skupinová terapie pro normální“. Představí nám ji, jakožto skupinovou terapii zaměřenou na osobnostní růst a interpersonální rozvoj účastníků, která je založena na rogersovské základní vztahové nabídce (kongruence, empatie a bezvýhradného pozitivního přijetí), nedirektivním přístupu a vhledu do interpersonálního dění „tady a teď“. Výzkumná část doplňuje teoretický pohled vhledem do prožívání průběhu encounterové skupiny. Pomocí kvalitativního, fenomenologicky pojatého rozhovoru, nabídne pozvání do respondentova soukromého světa, a ve formě textu, zachycujícího jeho prožitky, se pokusí zprostředkovat tuto zkušenost čtenáři. V závěru potom spojuje koncept vztahu jako součásti profese s výsledkem výzkumu a dochází k závěru, že prožitek v encounterové skupině může být nápomocen jak pro rozvoj osobnostních kvalit, tak i profesních kompetencí pomáhajícího pracovníka.

Abstract:

The work deals with the issue of experience in the encouter group and its importance for the field of helping professions. The theoretical part firstly shows, that there are professions in which the relational offer and the personality of the helper constitute a legitimite part of professional competences. This section is followed by a brief definiton of experience itself and its importance for the process of learning. The theoretical part futhermore introduces the Rogers approach – a person centerred approach – as an important stream of humanistic psychology, which takes the relationship, to be the central point of all therapeutical work. This approach constitutes theoretical basis for the encouter group.Last but not least the theoretical part deals with the origin, evolution and position of the encouter group itself as a specific type of group psychotherapy, sometimes called “group therapy for normal people“. Encouter group is introduced as a group therapy aimed at personality growth and interpersonal development of the participants, which is based on Rogers’s basic relational offer (congruence, empathy and unconditional positive regard), nondirective approach and on the insight into interpersonal events “here and now“.The theoretical part is complemented by a practical part which offers an insight into the course of an encouter group. It invites you, through a qualitative, phenomenologically approached interview, into the private world of a respondent. The interview, here in a written form, captures the experience of the respondent and aims at mediating this experience on to the reader. In the conclusion, the concept of ralationship as a part of the profession is connected with the findings of the practical part. The work concludes that an experience in the encounter group can be helpful in the development of both personality qualities as well as the professional competences of the helping professional.
