Needs assessment of elderly's awareness about the activation within social services in the selected location

Abstract:

Cílem mé práce bylo prozkoumat povahu potřeb v oblasti informovanosti seniorů o sociálních službách ve vybraném městě. Rozhodla jsem se zaměřit na aktivizační sociální služby, které podporují dlouhodobé setrvávání seniorů v jejich přirozeném prostředí. Téma bylo vybráno s ohledem na předchozí výzkumy, které konstatovaly nízkou informovanost seniorů o sociálních službách, ačkoliv téma informovanosti je vzhledem k této cílové skupině zdůrazňováno ve strategických materiálech města. Struktura práce směřuje k zodpovězení hlavní výzkumné otázky: Jaké jsou potřeby seniorů v oblasti informovanosti o možnostech aktivizace v rámci terénních a ambulantních sociálních služeb ve vybraném městě? Východiskem práce je teoretická část definující stěžejní pojmy vztahující se hlavní výzkumné otázce. Teoretická část je rozdělena do tří samostatných částí, z nichž byly odvozeny dílčí výzkumné otázky. Navazující metodologická část výzkumné otázky transformuje do měřitelné podoby a popisuje zvolenou výzkumnou strategii. Výzkum byl založen na analýze potřeb, měl kvalitativní povahu a data byla sbírána metodou polostrukturovaných rozhovorů a doplňkové analýzy dokumentů. Třetí, empirická část diplomové práce, interpretuje data získaná rozhovory s respondenty. Výzkumné poznatky jsou doplněna o poznatky získané rozhovorem s pracovnicí informačního centra a analýzou informačních dokumentů. Výzkumná zjištění, která zodpovídají hlavní výzkumnou otázku, jsou uvedena v závěrečné kapitole diplomové práce. Na tato zjištění navazují uvedená doporučení pro budoucí informování seniorů jak ze strany tvůrců politik i marketingových pracovníků jednotlivých organizací.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis was to investigate the nature of needs in the field of seniors’ knowing about social services in selected city. I have decided to focus on so called activating social services that support seniors' longterm residing in their natural environment. This topic was chosen with regard to the previous research that informed of a low level of seniors' information about social services, even though such topic for this target group is emphasized in strategic materials for the city. The structure of this thesis leads to answering the essential issue being investigated: What are the seniors’ needs regarding their knowing about the „activating“ options within the field and ambulant social services in the selected city? As an outcome, this thesis consists of a theoretical part, defining the key terms relating to the main research query. This theoretical part is divided into three separate sections, out of which the subquestions of this research were derived. A methodological part, that follows, converts these questions into a form in which they can be measured and defined, and also describes the selected research strategy. The research was based on the analysis of needs, was of a qualitative nature and the data was collected by means of semi-structured interviews and additional document analysis. The third empirical part of this thesis focuses on interpreting the acquired interview data. Observations from this investigation are linked also with the outcomes from an interview with an information centre worker and with findings from information document analysis. The research findings that correspond to the major research question are provided in the final thesis chapter. As a follow-up to these results, a defined recommendations are given, regarding the future plans in increasing seniors’ knowing, either for the strategic plan inventors or for marketing managers of individual organizations.
