Translating Culture: Škvorecký into English
Abstract:
Diplomová práce se zabývá překladem kultury, a to konkrétně ve třech knihách Josefa Škvoreckého (Dvě legendy, Lvíče a Mirákl), které byly přeloženy třemi různými překladateli, Káčou Poláčkovou-Henley, Peterem Kussim a Paulem Wilsonem. Práce poukazuje jak na rozdílné přístupy překladatelů ke shodným problémům, tak na specifika, které každá z těchto knih pro překlad představovala.
Abstract:
The Diploma Thesis deals with the translation of culture, specifically in three books by Josef Škvorecký (The Bass Saxophone, Miss Silver's Past and The Miracle Game), each translated by a different translator, Káča Poláčková-Henley, Peter Kussi and Paul Wilson.
