Receptor-vazebné proteiny, hlavní determinanta hostitelského rozmezí bakteriofágů, jsou častým cílem genových modifikací. Molekulární a syntetická biologie dnes nabízí řadu nástrojů, kterými lze cílit do specifických oblastí fágového genomu poskytujíc tak mechanismy pro změnu tohoto spektra. Receptor-binding proteins, which are major determinant of host range, are very often the target of genetic modification. Molecular and synthetic biology offers many tools to target the specific regions of the phage genome, giving us a way to alter this spectrum.
