The role and function of the periodical Lidové noviny in enlightenment and education of readers in 1894-1934

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce pojednává o jedné z dílčích kapitol z historie moravského periodika Lidové noviny v období před první světovou válkou a v meziválečném období. Analýzou vybraných kulturních příloh periodika práce přispívá k poznání problematiky, o níž se v tomto období psalo, a zároveň jaký vliv texty mohly mít v rovině edukace a osvěty čtenářstva. Metodologicky je práce zpracována formou sond vybraných ročníků periodika, tak aby mohla být zachycena škála témat v kontextu politického a sociálního vývoje společnosti. Práce též přináší základní informace o tehdejších osobnostech, které v té době do kulturně zaměřených příloh novin přispívaly nebo jejichž literární díla byla formou četby na pokračování vydávána.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis is about one of the sub-chapters from the history of The People's Daily in the period before the First World War and in the interwar period. By analysing selected cultural annexes of the periodical, the work contributes to the knowledge of the issues reported in this period and at the same time what influence the texts may have had in terms of education and awareness of the readership. Methodologically, the work is processed in the form of probes of selected periodical stints, so that a range of topics can be captured in the context of the political and social development of society. The work also provides basic information about the personalities of the time who contributed to the culturally focused annexes of the newspaper at that time, or whose literary works were published in the form of reading for the continuation.
