Dashboard for Cybersecurity Operation Center

Abstract:

Security dashboard is a tool used to support activities of cybersecurity operational center members. The aim of the thesis is to extend the Security dashboard with new features, based on the needs of Masaryk University Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT-MU) members, which are based on the analysis of answers, recorded during the interviews. At the theoretical level, the thesis focuses on the work of CSIRT-MU members, on tools used by the team members and on the Security dashboard platform. A brief approach to the technologies used to implement new features, closes the theoretical part of the work. The practical part of the thesis focuses on preparing and conducting interviews with CSIRT-MU staff and the subsequent evaluation and analysis of respondents' answers. The purpose of the analysis is to identify the needs for new or existing tools, that can be integrated into the Security dashboard in the form of expanding components. Within the practical part, the design of components, which are subsequently implemented and integrated into the Security dashboard, is described. The output of the work is a set of components that extend the Security dashboard with new features and their pilot deployment for the CSIRT-MU team.

Abstract:

Security dashboard je nástroj pre podporu činnosti členov kyberbezpečnostných operačných centier. Cieľom práce je rozšírenie platformy Security dashboard o nové funkcie, vyplývajúce z potrieb členov kyberbezpečnostného tímu Masarykovej univerzity (CSIRT-MU), na základe analýzy odpovedí, zaznamenaných pri riadených rozhovoroch. Na teoretickej úrovni sa práca zameriava na problematiku práce členov CSIRT-MU, na nástroje, ktoré k výkonu práce členovia tímu používajú a na platformu Security dashboard. Stručné priblíženie technológií použitých pri implementácií nových funkcií, uzatvára teoretickú časť práce. Praktická časť práce sa zameriava na prípravu a vykonanie riadených rozhovorov s pracovníkmi CSIRT-MU a následné vyhodnotenie a analýzu odpovedí respondentov. Cieľom analýzy je identifikácia potrieb na nové, alebo existujúce nástroje, ktoré sa dajú formou rozširujúcich komponentov integrovať do Security dashboardu. V rámci praktickej časti je v práci opísaný návrh komponentov, ktoré sú následne implementované a integrované do Security dashboardu. Výstupom práce je tak sada komponentov, rozširujúca Security dashboard o nové funkcie a ich pilotné nasadenie do prevádzky v tíme CSIRT-MU.
