System of Land Armies in Bohemia and Moravia at the Turn of the 16th and 17th Centuries

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá systémem zemských hotovostí na přelomu 16. a 17. století v Čechách a na Moravě. Na základě zápisů z jednání zemských sněmů a úřední korespondence vytvořím obraz o fungování, struktuře a efektivitě zemské hotovosti. Tuto skutečnost dále konfrontuji s vojenskými inovacemi v tehdejší Evropě, tzv. vojenskou revolucí. V neposlední řadě zachytím rozdílný přístup českých a moravských stavů při zajišťování obrany země.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with system of territorial army in 16th and 17th century in Bohemia and Moravia. Based on records from bohemian and moravian diet and official correspondence I will create a picture of functioning, structure and effectivness of territorial army. Futher I will confrontate this fact with the military innovation in Europe, so-called military revolution. Finally, I will catch a different approach of czech and moravian estates in defence of the country.
