Marriage and birth rates in the Czech Republic between 1968 and 2022

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce s názvem Sňatečnost a porodnost v České republice mezi lety 1968-2022 se zabývá analýzou sňatečnosti, porodnosti a vybraných souvisejících ukazatelů v období od roku 1968 do roku 2022. Vybranými ukazateli je kromě intenzity sňatečnosti a porodnosti také kupříkladu věk při sňatku a narození dítěte či sezónnost sňatečnosti a porodnosti. Teoretická část práce se zabývá vymezením základních pojmů, ukazatelů a teorií výběru partnera. Také zmiňuje vznik rodinné politiky a dnešní možné alternativy k manželství. Praktická část uvádí pomocí grafů demografický vývoj sledovaných ukazatelů, a důležité legislativní změny v oblasti rodinné politiky. Zkoumané kategorie jsou následně porovnány, což prokázalo korelaci mezi vývojem sňatečnosti a porodnosti. Přínos práce spočívá ve spojení výzkumu dvou demografických kategorií a hlubší analýze souvisejících ukazatelů, což otevírá prostor širším výzkumům i např. v oblasti sociologie.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis titled Marriage and birth rates in the Czech Republic between 1968 and 2022 focuses on analysis of marriage rates, birth rates and their related indicators in the period from 1968 to the year 2022. Among the chosen related indicators are besides the intensity of marriages and birth rates also for example age at marriage and age at birth or the seasonality of marriage and birth rates. The theoretical part deals with the definiton of basic terms and concepts, indicators and theories of partner selection. It also mentions the origin of family policy and today's possible marriage alternatives. The practical part presents graphical data on demographic development of the examined indicators and important legislative changes in the area of family policy. The examined categories are then put in comparison, which showed a correlation between the development of marriage and birth rates. The contribution of the thesis lies in the combination of research on two demographic categories and a deeper analysis of related indicators, which opens space for broader research in the field of sociology, for example.
