Zooplankton communities in newly built wetlands in agricultural landscape of southern Moravia

Abstract:

V České republice vzniká v zemědělské krajině mnoho nových mokřadů. Jedním z cílů při budování mokřadních biotopů je zvýšení lokální biodiverzity. Skutečný příspěvek nově zřízených mokřadů k biodiverzitě však není dosud znám. Jako modelovou skupinu jsme si vybrali zooplanktonní korýše. V létě roku 2021 jsme odebrali vzorky z 35 nově vybudovaných mokřadních tůní na jižní Moravě. Ve vzorcích jsem určil celkem 38 druhů zooplanktonu, z toho 27 z řádu Cladocera a 11 z řádu Copepoda. Druhově nejbohatší společenstva se vyskytovala na lokalitách bez přítomnosti ryb, které byly zároveň pokryté submerzní vegetací. Druhovou bohatost společenstva zooplanktonu neovlivňovalo stáří, velikost lokality, množství živin ani šířka litorálního porostu. Společenstvo zooplanktonu se měnilo podél gradientu odhadu rybí obsádky, koncentrace chlorofylu, míry zákalu, průměrné hloubky a pokryvnosti submerzní vegetací. Nejvíce druhů se vyskytovalo při středně velké průměrné hloubce a střední koncentraci iontů sodíku. Bakalářská práce přináší první informace o složení a druhové bohatosti zooplanktonních společenstev v nově vybudovaných mokřadních tůních a důležité informace, které mohou pomoci s tvorbou a managementem nových biotopů.

Abstract:

Many new wetlands were built in the Czech Republic in last few years. The support for the local biodiversity is one of the main aims of newly-built wetland biotopes. However, their real importance for biodiversity hasn´t been explored yet. We chose zooplankton crustaceans as model organisms for our study. In the summer 2021 we sampled 35 newly created wetland pools in the southern Moravia. Altogether 38 species were determined from two orders, Cladocera (27 species) and Copepoda (11 species). The highest species richness was found in sites without fishes, which were also overgrown by submerged vegetation at the same time. The species richness wasn´t influenced by the age of biotope, amount of nutrients and size of littoral zone overgrown by emergent vegetation. Zooplankton communities were changing along the gradients of fish abundance, chlorophyll concentration, turbidity, average depth and extent of submerged vegetation overgrowth. The highest number of species was found in biotopes with the medium average depth and medium concentration of sodium ions. The bachelor thesis brings first information about the species richness and structure of zooplankton communities in newly-built wetland pools in the southern Moravian landscape, which can help with cration and suitable management planning of these new biotopes.
