Managing Team in the Hotel Industry

Abstract:

Tématem mé bakalářské práce je Vedení týmu v hotelnictví. Zaměřila jsem se především na klíčový úsek hotelového provozu – recepci. Důvodem je to, že právě pracovníci tohoto týmu jsou denně v kontaktu s klientelou hotelu a tím vytváří vizitku pro jeho vedení a hotel jako celek. V aplikační části jsem využila své zkušenosti z praxe. Hotel Residence Agnes poskytuje ubytování na českém trhu již několik let. Od začátku roku 2012 se soustředil na zdokonalení personálu a služeb. Byla jsem součástí tohoto procesu, a právě proto jsem si zvolila toto téma pro svoji práci. V této části své práce popisuji jednotlivé úseky hotelu Agnes. Zabývám se specifikou týmové spolupráce, problémy v multikulturním týmu a způsoby komunikace mezi týmy. Zároveň řeším problém adaptace nových pracovníků. V závěru své práce navrhuji několik efektivních metod pro zdokonalení fungování personálu, z nichž část se již v hotelu Agnes podařilo realizovat.

Abstract:

The topic of my bachelor’s thesis is Managing Team in the Hotel Industry. I have focused primarily on the key section of hotel operations - reception. As a result of this particular team of employees who are in daily contact with the hotel‘s clientele and therefore, create a direct reflection of the top management and the hotel as a whole. In the practical part I used my experience from practice. Hotel Residence Agnes has been on the Czech market, providing accommodation, for several years. In the beginning of the year 2012, Hotel Residence Agnes started focusing on the improvement of staff and services. I was also involved in the process of restructuring and management change and that is the reason for choosing this particular topic for my thesis. In this part of my thesis I describe concrete departments at Agnes. I elaborate on the specifics of teamwork, problems in multicultural teams and the different ways of communication between teams. At the same time, I elaborate on problem of adaptation of new employees. In the conclusion, I present several effective methods to improve the functioning of hotel personnel, some of which have already been successfully applied at Hotel Residence Agnes.
