THE DETECTION OF VIRAL PATHOGENS IN TOMATO AND PEPPER PLANTS

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá detekcí viru Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV), Pepino mosaic virus (PepMV) a Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) na rostlinách rajčat a paprik. V kapitole literární rešerše jsou zpracovány základní informace o obsahových látkách rostlin rajčat a paprik a o nejvýznamnějších chorobách, které tyto plodiny napadají. Tato kapitola rovněž obsahuje popis tří detekovaných virů a jejich projevy a následky na rostlinách. Součástí práce byla také praktická část, kde byla pomocí RT-PCR detekována přítomnost popisovaných virů. Celkem bylo testováno 6 vzorků na přítomnost ToBRFV, 10 vzorků na přítomnost PepMV a 10 vzorků na přítomnost CMV. Pozitivní výsledek byl zaznamenán pouze na rostlině papriky IZM-P1, která byla pozitivní na vir ToBRFV.

Abstract:

The Bachelor thesis concerns the detection of the Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV), Pepino mosaic virus (PepMV) a Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) viruses in tomato and pepper plants. The literary research chapter covers the basic information about the substances contained within the plants and about the more significant disease which can affect these crops. It also contains the descriptions of three detected viruses, their manifestations and the consequences they represent for these plants. The thesis also includes a practical part, where the presence of the aforementioned viruses was detected using RT-PCR. In total, 6 samples were tested for the presence of ToBRFV, 10 for PepMV and 10 for CMV. Only one IZM-P1 pepper plant tested positive – for the ToBFFV virus.
