Living in sheltered housing

Abstract:

Diplomová práce Život v chráněném bydlení se zabývá chráněným bydlením pro osoby s mentálním postižením. Cílem diplomové práce je zjistit jak kvalitní je život dospělých osob s mentálním postižením v konkrétním chráněném bydlení. Tato práce v teoretické části podává ucelený přehled základních poznatků o mentálním postižení, o problematice dospělých osob s mentálním postižením a o možnostech jejich bydlení. Ve výzkumné části jsou použity tři techniky. První technikou je zúčastněné pozorování, druhou technikou jsou rozhovory s klienty s různým stupněm mentálního postižení a rozhovory s klíčovými asistenty chráněného bydlení, kteří se o tyto klienty starají. Poslední technika je analýza zdravotní dokumentace, která bude využita k vypracování kazuistických studií u vybraných klientů. Z hlediska bydlení se tato práce zabývá zejména tím, jaký má chráněné bydlení vliv na jejich kvalitu života, zda je těmto osobám poskytována dostatečná podpora při soběstačnosti a samostatnosti v péči o domácnost, a jakým způsobem tito klienti tráví volný čas.

Abstract:

The thesis Sheltered Housing deals with sheltered housing for people with mental health problems. The aim of this thesis was to find out what is the quality of life for adults with mental illness in a specific type of sheltered housing. The theoretical part of the thesis describes basic facts about mental illness, problems of adults with mental health problems and the possible ways of housing them.The research part uses three kinds of techniques. The first technique is participant observation, the second one consisnts of interviews with clients with different degrees of mental illness as well as with assistants in sheltered housing who look after them. The last technique was the analysis of medical documentation which was used for the processing of case studies with selected clients.The thesis is focused especially on the influence of sheltered housing on the quality of their lives if they are given adequate support for their self-sufficiency and independent living, and how these clients spend their free time.
