Factors influencing the adaptation of old people in Rest Home

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na faktory, které ovlivňují adaptaci seniorů při pobytu v DpS. Tyto faktory jsou rozděleny na intrapsychické, vnější. Faktory jsou zjišťovány z pohledu seniorů a pracovníků DpS z důvodu zajištění validity výzkumu. Teoretická část shromažďuje informace o pojmech, které je třeba znát pro lepší pochopení tématu. Zaměřena je na charakteristiky stáří a důležité změny ve stáří, dále na adaptaci a její spojení s pobytem v DpS, nakonec popisuje DpS jako sociální službu pro seniory. Metodologická část umožní pochopit výběr kvalitativní strategie zkoumání, metody a techniky sběru dat, kterou byl polostrukturovaný rozhovor ve dvou domovech pro seniory s devíti klienty a čtyřmi pracovníky. Dále je zde uveden způsob výběru respondentů, operacionalizace dílčích výzkumných otázek, přístup výzkumu k validitě a etické aspekty výzkumu. V interpretační části je uvedena analýza výzkumem získaných dat, kterou byla získána odpověď na hlavní výzkumnou otázku: Jaké pozitivní faktory ovlivňují seniory při adaptaci na pobyt v DpS? Interpretací a analýzou rozhovorů byly zjištěny intrapsychické a vnější zdroje seniorů při adaptaci na pobyt v DpS. Nakonec této kapitoly jsou uvedena opatření pro praxi, a také zaměření dalších výzkumů.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on the positive factors influencing adaptation of old people in Rest Home. These factors are divided into two groups: intrapsychological and external factors. To ensure the validity of the research, factors were found out from clients and also from workers in two Rest Homes. The theoretical part gathers the information on the facts which are important to know for understanding the subject. The theoretical part is focused on the characteristics of senility and considerable changes at old age. It is also focused on adaptation and its connection with the stay at Rest Home. This part also describes Rest Home as social service for old people. The methodological part enables to comprehend a choice of qualitative research strategy, method and technique of data collecting (a semi-structured interview in two Rest Homes with nine clients and four employees). This chapter also shows the method of selecting respondents, the operationalization of particular research questions, the approach to validity as well as ethical aspects of the research. The interpretation of the data is described in Interpretative part. The response to the main research question (Which positive factors are influencing old people in adaptation to the stay in Rest Home?) was obtained from this interpretation. Intrapsychological and external sources were revealed by the interpretation and the analysis of the data. The interpretative part is also focused on the interpretation of the responses concerning the obstacles to the adaptation of old people. Interventional variables, recommendation for practice and for additional researches are given at the end of this chapter.
