The influence of nicotine on simple and choice reaction time

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je zjistit, zda nikotin ovlivní úroveň jednoduché a složité reakční doby u studentů studujících obory tělesné výchovy. Tento vliv jsme vyhodnotili v laboratorních podmínkách za pomoci vizuálních jednoduchých a složitých podnětů. V teoretické části jsme se zaměřili na užívání nikotinu, jeho složení a působení na lidský organismus. Věnovali jsme se také řízení motoriky, reakční době a jejímu rozdělení. V neposlední řadě jsme se zaměřili také na studie v řešené problematice. Praktická část pojednává o hodnocení vlivu nikotinu na jednoduchou a složitou reakční dobu. Testovanými byly studenti katedry tělesné výchovy. Testování se zúčastnilo 15 studentů katedry tělesné výchovy a sportu UJEP v Ústí nad Labem. Mezi testovanými bylo 9 mužů a 6 žen, ve věku 20 - 26 let, váhy 60 - 88 kg. Testování proběhlo za pomoci upraveného přístroje pro měření rychlosti, a software FITRO SWORD. Jsou zde popsány statistické metody, zpracování dat a interpretace výsledků, ve kterých jsme zjistili, že existuje jak statisticky, tak i věcně významný rozdíl ve složité reakční době mezi užitím tablety s nikotinem, nebo placebem.

Abstract:

The goal of this bachelor thesis is to determine whether nicotine will affect the level of simple and choice reaction time in students studying subjects of Physical Education. We later evaluated this effect in laboratory conditions with visualisation of simple and complex stimuli. In the theoretical part of this thesis, we focus on the usage of nicotine, its composition and the effect it has on the human organism. We also dived deep into the problematice of the motor skill, reaction time and its variol types. Last but not least we also looked into the published works and studies available on this topic. The practical part of this work deals with the evaluation of the influence nicotine has on simple and choice reaction time. As the test subjects 15 students of the Departement of Physical Education and Sport in UJEP University from Usti nad Labem were used. Among the tested there were 9 males and 6 females, aged between 20 and 26 years, weighing 60 -88 kg. The testing was carried out while using a modified tool for measuring speed of professional fencers and the program called FITROSWORD. All of the used statistical methodology, data processing and results interpretation are described in detail through out the thesis.
