Abstract:

My bachelor thesis analyses three works of literature for children by Norwegian writer Endre Lund Eriksen; namely, Pitbull Terje går amok (2002), Pitbull Terje og kampen mot barnevernet (2006), and Pitbull Terje blir ond (2007). The analysis of the loose trilogy is divided into three independent chapters which are, however, thematically coherent: they all reflect common tendencies in Norwegian literature for children in the past twenty years or so. The first of the three chapters deals with the dichotomy between ‘post-modern and traditional’ approaches to upbringing children. The chapter then goes on to address the way in which representations of the post-modern features of society such as media, violence, nudeness, anonymity, etc. influence both children and their parents. The author, through comments on the traditional view of the current social situation, creates impartial position from which he asks the reader whether it would not be possible to combine the best from both the post-modern and the traditional attitudes into one harmonic unity of environment allowing children to actually be children. The second chapter relates to post-modern society as well. The borderline between childhood, adolescence and adulthood disappears because children often have to substitute themselves for the role of their parents and their responsibility. Paying close attention to the text, this chapter tries to locate the causes and consequences of such shifts in the traditional family roles. The last of the main chapters touches on the most important issue of Norwegian literature for children: identity and the search for it. This search, again, takes place with children just as well as with their parents. Mutual influence, suppression of identity, and human self-confidence are among the important sub-topics of this chapter.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na tři dětské knihy norského spisovatele Endre Lund Eriksena. Jedná se o knihy Pitbull Terje går amok (2002), Pitbull Terje og kampen mot barnevernet (2006) a Pitbull Terje blir ond (2007). Tato volná trilogie je analyzována a nazírána z pohledu tří samostatných kapitol, které jsou ovšem tematicky velmi koherentní a svým tematickým pojetím odráží společné tendence v norské literatuře pro děti a mládež v posledních zhruba dvaceti letech. První ze tří hlavních kapitol se zabývá dichotomií „postmoderní versus tradiční“, čímž se míní dva protikladně působící přístupy k výchově dětí. Jak zobrazení postmoderních rysů společnosti ovlivňující nejen děti, ale také jejich rodiče, tedy například média, násilí, nahota, anonymita či role sociálních organizací, tak „tradiční“ pohled na současný stav věcí, který je v knihách zastoupen nejrůznějšími společenskokritickými poznámkami, vytváří v posledku nezaujatý postoj autora, jenž se svým důvěryhodným zobrazením prostředí čtenáře ptá, není-li možné dětem vytvořit prostředí, které by sloučilo výhody moderního a tradičního přístupu k výchově v jeden harmonický celek, a které by umožnilo dětem být dětmi. S postmoderní společností souvisí i druhá ze tří kapitol. Hranice mezi dětstvím, dospíváním a dospělostí mizí, neboť děti musí často zastávat role svých rodičů a přebírat jejich zodpovědnost. Tato kapitola se podrobnou prací s textem pokouší dobrat příčin a důsledků takovéto proměny tradičních rodinných rolí. Poslední z hlavních kapitol se dotýká tematiky v moderní norské literatuře pro děti a mládež vůbec nejdůležitější, a to identity a jejího hledání. Toto hledání je patrné nejen u dětí, ale také u rodičů. Vzájemné ovlivnění mezi nimi, potlačování identity či lidská sebedůvěra jsou jedny z důležitých podtémat této kapitoly.
