The Function of Selected Greek Islands in Modern Literature
Abstract:
Bakalářská práce se zabývá otázkou funkce vybraných řeckých ostrovů v moderní literatuře; analyzuje různé typy chronotopu a zobrazení prostoru v povídce Trojúhelník na ostrově od Agathy Christie a v románech Egypťan Sinuhet od Miky Waltariho, Mandolína kapitána Corelliho od Louise de Bernièresa, Kapitán Michalis od Nikose Kazantzakise a O mé rodině a jiné zvířeně od Geralda Durrella.
Abstract:
The thesis deals with the function of selected Greek islands in modern literature; it analyzes different types of chronotope and the depiction of space in the short story Triangle at Rhodes by Agatha Christie and the novels The Egyptian by Mika Waltari, Captain Corelli's Mandolin by Louis de Bernières, Freedom and Death by Nikos Kazantzakis and My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell.
