This bachelor thesis proposes to explore the phenomenon of women's employment in Great Britain during the Second World War and the years that directly followed the Allies' victory of 1945. It addresses a common feminist claim that British women were initially eager to join in the war effort by taking on paid or voluntary work, but once their contribution was no longer needed, they were forced to go …more
