Influence of plant density and spacing on the future morphological quality of the above-ground part of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.)

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá kvalitou nadzemní části buku lesního (Fagus sylvatica L.) 14 let po založení výzkumné plochy s různou hustotou a sponem rostlin. Na ploše byly testovány počty sazenic 5 000 ks/ha, 10 000 ks/ha, 15 000 ks/ha a 20 000 ks/ha ve čtvercovém a obdélníkovém sponu. U počtu 10 000 ks/ha byl použit pouze čtvercový spon. Dílčím cílem bylo i zjištění, jaký má vliv výchovný zásah na morfologickou kvalitu porostu. Z naměřených parametrů vyplývá, že více jedinců s vysokou kvalitou kmene se nacházelo v obdélníkovém sponu než ve sponu čtvercovém. U ostatních morfologických parametrů (výška, tloušťka, výška nasazení koruny) nelze jednoznačně říci, který ze sponů je vhodnější, protože v určitých morfologických parametrech byly zjištěny lepší hodnoty u sponu čtvercového a u jiných zase u sponu obdélníkového. Za naprosto nevhodnou lze označit hustotu 5 000 ks/ha jak ve čtvercovém, tak obdélníkovém sponu. U ostatních variant byl zatím zjištěn dostatečný počet stromů pro zajištění budoucí kvality porostu. Výchovný zásah měl pozitivní vliv na kvalitu porostu a morfologické parametry buku.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis analyzes the quality of the above-ground part of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) 14 years after the planting at the research area with different plant densities and spacing. Numbers of plants – 5 000 pcs/ha, 10 000 pcs/ha, 15 000 pcs/ha and 20 000 pcs/ha were tested in a square and rectangular spacing. For the plant number of 10 000 pcs/ha, only the square spacing was used. A partial goal was to find out what effect the tending intervention has on the morphological quality of the stand. The measured parameters show that more individuals with a high stem quality were in the rectangular spacing than in the square spacing. For other morphological parameters (height, thickness, crown placement height) it is not possible to say unambiguously which of the spacing is more suitable, because in certain morphological parameters better values were found for the square spacing and for others for the rectangular spacing. It is absolutely inappropriate to label the density of 5 000 pcs/ha in both square and rectangular spacing. For other variants, a sufficient number of trees has been identified so far to ensure the future quality of the stand. The tending intervention had a positive effect on the quality of the stand and the morphological parameters of the beech.
