Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se věnuje osobnosti malíře Františka Dvořáka, který žil a tvořil na sklonku 19. století a začátku století 20. Původem český autor se ještě před koncem století stal slavným v evropských uměleckých centrech, jakými byl Mnichov či Paříž, ale i městech zaoceánských, Filadelfii, Chicagu a dalších. V Čechách se stal populárním již v osmdesátých letech díky dobovému tisku, který sledoval jeho uměleckou kariéru od samého počátku a svým čtenářům hojně přinášel reprodukce jeho nejnovější tvorby. Dvořák je dnes známý především jako tvůrce dětských podobizen a portrétů mladých půvabných dam. Produkce tohoto všestranného malíře však byla mnohem obsáhlejší. Mimo portrétní tvorby se, nejvíce po svých studiích, věnoval zachycování dětského žánru, s čímž pokračoval i při svém americkém pobytu, kde mimo jiné tvořil zakázkové portréty tamní smetánky. Množství zakázek, kvůli kterému se malíř nemohl naplno věnovat dalšímu uměleckému rozvoji, ho nakonec vedlo k přesídlení do Paříže. Tam mohl čerpat inspiraci pro svou tvorbu plnou líbezných dam obklopených barevnými květy a zabývat se dalšími náměty včetně náboženských motivů a studií krajiny. Výtvarné přístupy, k nimž Dvořák po dobu pobytu v Paříži dospěl, si udržel i po návratu do Čech, kde až do konce dvacátých let 20. století tvořil. Práce poprvé představuje kompletně sepsaný ucelený životopis autora, díky němuž je možné lépe definovat hlavní umělecké přístupy a motivy v jeho tvorbě. Ty lze pozorovat v soupisu díla, jež je mimo samotný text její součástí.

Abstract:

This submitted diploma thesis is devoted to a personage of a painter who lived and created at the close of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, František Dvořák. This, by origin, Bohemian painter became famous in European artistic centres such as Munich and Paris but also in transatlantic cities like Chicago and Philadelphia and others before the end of the century already. In Bohemia he became popular in 1880s by virtue of a contemporary press that offered its readers reproductions of his latest works. Nowadays Dvořák is mainly known as the author of children’s portraits and depictions of young and graceful ladies. However a portfolio of this omnifaceted painter was much broader. After his studies he focused besides portraiture on the infantine genre in which he continued even during his American sojourn during which he also created custom portraits of local crème-de-la-crème. The abundance of commissions that stopped the painter from his own personal artistic development forced him to relocate to Paris. There he could fully draw the inspiration for his work full of beautiful ladies surrounded by colourful flowers and also focus on other themes including religious motives and landscapes. Dvořák maintained artistic approaches that he grew into during his Parisian stay even after his return to Bohemia where we worked till the end of 1920s. This thesis presents for the first time completely composed biography of this author thanks to which it is possible to define main artistic approaches and motives of his work in a better way. These can be traced in a catalogue of artworks that forms the thesis together with the text.
