Abstract:
Lektiny jsou proteiny vázající specificky, reverzibilně a nekovalentně sacharidy. Interakce lektin - sacharid hraje důležitou roli v buněčných rozpoznávacích procesech. V případě bakteriálních lektinů hrají klíčovou úlohu v rozpoznávání sacharidových struktur na povrchu hostitelských buněk a tím umožňují jejich adhezi, která je prvním krokem v rozvoji infekce. Bacterial lectins play a crucial role in the processes of recognizing saccharide moieties on the surfaces of host cells and therefore enabling adhesion of the bacteria, a first step in the process of infection.
