Volunteering in Social Enterprise

Abstract:

The diploma thesis is focused on the issue of volunteering in a social enterprise from the perspective of young adult volunteers in the environmental and social field. The diploma thesis consists of theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part I analyse the complex phenomenon of volunteering, the inputs and outputs of volunteering, which represent the motivation, barriers and benefits of volunteering and an overview of the development of volunteering, especially in Slovak conditions until 2018, when legislation was adopted for social entrepreneurship and social enterprises. Therefore, volunteering takes place in the new institutional environment. The empirical part of the diploma thesis is based on a qualitative research inspired by the design of grounded theory. The aim of the empirical research part is to find out how young adult volunteers perceive volunteering in a social enterprise in the environmental and social field. Specific research questions concern the reasons for participating in volunteering in a social enterprise, the barriers and benefits of this volunteering. Five key areas were identified, based on the analysis of semi-structured interviews with ten young adult volunteers in a social enterprise. There are relationships between them and they are important for describing the perception of volunteering in a social enterprise: impulses to volunteering, description of the role of volunteer in social enterprise, diverse volunteering activities, community life, conflicts. Answers to specific research questions are distributed in these crucial areas.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca je zameraná na problematiku dobrovoľníctva v sociálnom podniku pohľadom mladých dospelých dobrovoľníkov v environmentálno-sociálnej oblasti. Práca má teoreticko-empirický charakter. V teoretickej časti sa venujem komplexnému fenoménu dobrovoľníctva, vstupom a výstupom dobrovoľníctva, ktoré predstavujú motiváciu, bariéry a benefity dobrovoľníctva a prehľadu vývoja dobrovoľníctva, najmä v slovenských podmienkach až do roku 2018, kedy bola prijatá legislatíva k sociálnemu podnikaniu a sociálnym podnikom. Dobrovoľníctvo tak prebieha aj v novom inštitucionálnom prostredí. Empirická časť diplomovej práce je založená na kvalitatívnom výskumnom šetrení inšpirovanom designom zakotvenej teórie. Cieľom empirickej výskumnej časti je zistiť, ako mladí dospelí dobrovoľníci vnímajú dobrovoľníctvo v sociálnom podniku v environmentálno-sociálnej oblasti. Špecifické výskumné otázky sa týkajú dôvodov zapojenia sa do dobrovoľníctva v sociálnom podniku, bariér a prínosov tohto dobrovoľníctva. Na základe analýzy pološtrukturovaných rozhovorov s desiatimi mladými dospelými dobrovoľníkmi v sociálnom podniku bolo zistených päť kľučových oblastí, medzi ktorými sú vzťahy, a ktoré sú pre popis vnímania dobrovoľníctva v sociálnom podniku dôležité: impulzy k dobrovoľníctvu, opis vlastnej role dobrovoľníka v sociálnom podniku, rôznorodé dobrovoľnícke činnosti, komunitný život, konflikty. V týchto oblastiach sú distribuované odpovede na špecifické výskumné otázky.
