Trends and developments in banking sector during the global financial crisis

Abstract:

The subject of this bachelor thesis is to describe the banking sector of the Slovak Republic and focus on trends and developments in the field of commercial banks through the analysis of banking products over a period of financial crisis. The thesis is organized into four separate chapters, and describes the structure of the banking system in our country. With regard to the efforts of hierarchical processing of the components of this system in the first chapter it deals with the top of the financial system and financial market as the most important part of the market economy, with a smooth transition to the banking system. The second chapter elaborate on the issues of the commercial banks as the most important intermediaries in the financial field. The third chapter describes the various banking products in relation to the bank balance based on active and passive operations of the commercial banks. The last chapter compares selected product groups of three commercial banks that were analyzed. The conclusion of this thesis is intended to summarize the activities of the banking sector itself and to identify its future trends.

Abstract:

Cieľom bakalárskej práce je charakterizovať bankový sektor Slovenskej republiky a priblížiť trendy a vývoj na poli komerčných bánk prostredníctvom analýzy bankových produktov v časovom období finančnej krízy. Bakalárska práca je usporiadaná do štyroch samostatných kapitol, pričom rozoberá štruktúru bankového systému v našich podmienkach. S ohľadom na snahu o hierarchické spracovanie jednotlivých zložiek tohto systému sa v prvej kapitole zaoberá na vrchu stojacim finančným systémom a finančným trhom, ako najdôležitejšou súčasťou trhovej ekonomiky, s plynulým prechodom k bankovému systému. V druhej kapitole nadväzuje rozpracovaním problematiky komerčných bánk ako najdôležitejších sprostredkovateľov na finančnom poli. Tretia kapitola popisuje už jednotlivé bankové produkty vo vzťahu k bankovej bilancii, čiže na základe realizovaných aktívnych a pasívnych operácií komerčnej banky. V poslednej kapitole sú na základe komparácie analyzované vybrané skupiny produktov troch komerčných bánk. Záver práce má za cieľ zhrnúť činnosť bankového sektora ako takého a načrtnúť ďalšie trendy a vývoj do budúcna.
