Abstract:

Anotace Disertační práce obsahuje první MRI studii vzniku páskované pevné fáze v gelové matrix. V experimentech byla sledována periodická precipitace brucitu v želatině. Páskovaná precipitace, známá pod názvem Liesegangovy vzory, vzniká v důsledku reakčně-difuzního procesu. V sérii experimentů provedených na pracovišti Ústavu přístrojové techniky AV ČR v Brně na 9,4 T MRI systému byla vyvinuta nová metodika pro sledování průběhu této chemické reakce přímo, v reálném čase. MRI umožňuje sběr dat ze zvoleného řezu vzorku, bez jeho narušení či destrukce. Prostřednictvím relaxometrie byla získány kvalitativní T2 a T2 * váhované snímky a kvantitativní T2 mapy. Byly zaznamenány jednotlivé fáze průběhu reakce a vznik páskovaných struktur v gelu na základě elektromagnetické aktivity vodíkových jader a jejich interakci. Získaná data byla dále analyzována speciálním softwarem pro vyhodnocení snímků. Další experimenty byly zaměřeny na vznik precipitačních vzorů v poškozené matrix. MRI poskytuje specifické kvantitativní informace o studované reakci, které není možné získat jiným způsobem. Tato studie tak otevírá redefinici problematiky páskovaných vzorů a uvedená data mohou být využita v geochemickém modelování.

Abstract:

Abstract The dissertation covers the first MRI study of the formation of a banded precipitate in a gel matrix. For the experimental part we chose the formation of brucite in a gelatinous matrix. The banded precipitate, known as Liesegang rings, arises due to a reaction-diffusion process. In a series of experiments carried out at the laboratories of the Institute of Scientific Instruments of the CAS in Brno using the 9.4 T MRI system, a new methodology was developed for monitoring the progress of the given chemical reaction directly, in real time. Using MRI we can capture data from the selected sample section without distortion or destruction. Using relaxometry, we obtained qualitative T2 and T2* weighted images and a quantitative T2 maps. Recordings were made during each phase of the reaction and the formation of banding structures in the gel, based on electromagnetic activity and interactions of hydrogen nucleus. Additional experiments were aimed at the formation of precipitates in a disrupted matrix. The data obtained was further analysed using original image processing software. The MRI provides quantitative information about the reaction studied that cannot be obtained any other way. This study thus opens up the whole subject area of banded patterns for review and the data obtained will facilitate the transport-reactive geochemical modelling of how banded structures arise.
