The river Elbe as the Inner-German border between GDR and FRG 1952-1961.

Abstract:

This thesis dedicates the place of the lower central stream of the Elbe in the places, where this part of the river created a 94 kilometres long part of a demarcation line and finally a sector of an internal border between the past German Democratic Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany. This thesis analyzes how was the cultural area changing under the influence of the political occasions. The following period of the work are the fifties of the past century, especially the year 1952 when was rised the internal german-german border and when happened at the area of the past German Democratic Republic the violent displacement of the own population from the border area therefore also along the right side of the river Elbe. The incidents in the year 1952 confirmed for a long time the definitiveness existence of the two german states, their different follow-on developement which was also unequal at the both sides of the river. In terms of this influence was a big amount of the emigration experiments to the left side of the river. The point of this thesis is according the humangeography to catch the changing of the picture of the river regarding the incidents in the fiftees, to systematise this incidents and try to deduce how the 42 years long period of government of SED in German Democratic Republic influenced the contemporary life and the present in the area of Elbe, 27 years after the union of Germany. In the thesis will be searched consequences of the human behavior in the fiftees at concrete people´s destinies, who used to live in the Elbe area. The closer area of searching the elbe´s border will be the region administrativ komplex area Amt Neuhaus (the right side of Elbe) and the city Hitzacker (the left side of Elbe).

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje prostoru dolního středního toku Labe v místech, kde tato část řeky tvořila nejprve 94 km dlouhý úsek demarkační linie a posléze úsek vnitrostátní hranice mezi bývalou NDR a NSR a zkoumá, jak tento kulturní prostor byl pod vlivem politických událostí proměňován. Sledovaným obdobím práce jsou 50. léta minulého století, zejména rok 1952, kdy vznikla vnitrostátní německo-německá hranice a kdy došlo na území NDR k násilnému vysídlování vlastního obyvatelstva z hraničního prostoru, tedy i podél pravého břehu Labe. Události roku 1952 stvrdily na dlouhou dobu definitivnost existence dvou německých států NDR a NSR, jejich následný odlišný vývoj, který byl rozdílný tedy i na obou březích Labe. Důsledkem tohoto vývoje bylo velké množství pokusů o emigraci na levý břeh Labe. Cílem práce je, ve shodě s humánní geografií1 zachytit proměňování obrazu řeky samotné na základě událostí 50tých let, tyto události systematizovat a pokusit se vyvodit, jak období 42leté vlády SED v NDR ovlivnilo tehdejší život i současnost v oblasti Labe, 27 let po sjednocení Německa. V práci budou zkoumány důsledky lidského konání v 50. letech na konkrétních osudech lidí, kteří v labském prostoru žili. Užším prostorem zkoumání labské hranice bude oblast územního správního celku Amt Neuhaus (pravý břeh Labe) a města Hitzacker (levý břeh Labe).
