The Use of Macro Stress Tests and Open Data in the Design of Business Strategy

Abstract:

Předkládaná disertační práce je zaměřena na oblast tvorby strategií nefinančních podniků. Navržen je postup tvorby celopodnikové strategie, který je vhodný pro podniky různých velikostí i oborů činnosti. Dále je zkoumána použitelnost informací makrozátěžových testů a otevřených dat pro tvorbu navržené strategie. Hlavím cílem výzkumu je tedy zhodnotit použitelnost informací makrozátěžových testů a otevřených dat pro tvorbu strategie nefinančních podniků navrženým způsobem. Tento hlavní cíl je doplněn čtyřmi dílčími cíli: 1. Identifikovat dosavadní modely tvorby strategií podniků zmíněné v odborné literatuře a definovat pojmy makrozátěžové testy a otevřená data. 2. Z definovaných postupů tvorby strategií zvolit použitelný postup pro nefinanční podniky a pro zavedení využití informací makrozátěžových testů a otevřených dat. 3. Vytvořit a zhodnotit celopodnikovou strategii definovanou podle zvoleného postupu pro konkrétní firmu. 4. Ověřit použitelnost informací makrozátěžových testů a otevřených dat při tvorbě strategie nefinančních podniků. V souladu s definovanými cíli jsou formulovány výzkumné otázky, na které jsou získány odpovědi pomocí literární rešerše a výzkumných metod. Benchmarking je realizován pomocí strukturovaných rozhovorů. Na základě těchto rozhovorů je upraven postup tvorby celopodnikové strategie nefinančních podniků. Kvantitativní výzkum, který je proveden s použitím dotazníkového šetření, ověřuje výsledky benchmarkingu, tj. použitelnost navrženého postupu tvorby strategie nefinančních podniků i zdrojů informací v podobě makrozátěžových testů a otevřených dat pro definování strategie.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the design of business strategies for non-financial corporations. In the thesis, the author proposes a series of steps for creating an enterprise-wide strategy. The approach is suitable for companies of various sizes and domains. Furthermore, the thesis investigates the applicability of information from macro stress tests and open data to the design of the proposed strategy. Thus, the main aim of this research was to assess the applicability of information from macro stress tests and open data to the proposed design of strategy for non-financial corporations. Apart from the main aim, there were four particular goals: 1. Identify existing models of business strategy design mentioned in academic literature and define the terms macro stress tests and open data. 2. From the business strategy design models identified in the previous goal, choose an approach suitable for non-financial corporations and for the inclusion of information from macro stress tests and open data. 3. Design and evaluate an enterprise-wide strategy for a particular company, based on the selected approach. 4. Assess the applicability of information from macro stress tests and open data to the design of strategy for non-financial corporations. In line with the aim and goals, the author formulated research questions, which were answered using a literature review and research methods. Structured interviews were used to conduct benchmarking. Based on the results of these interviews, the author modified the approach to the design of enterprise-wide strategy for non-financial corporations. The results of the benchmarking (i.e. the applicability of the proposed design method of strategy for non-financial corporations as well as the applicability of information sources in the form of macro stress tests and open data to the strategy design) were assessed by means of quantitative research, which was conducted using a questionnaire.
