The Russian Annexation of Crimea and its impact on the relations with selected states

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje zahraniční politice vybraných států ve vztahu k Ruské federaci v období, které nastalo po anexi Krymu v roce 2014. Je důležité zmínit, že některé státy vyžadují i popis vzájemných bilaterálních vztahů z minulosti, a to pro lepší pochopení současného dění. První část práce stručně popisuje události ukrajinské krize v letech 2013-2014 během revoluce na náměstí Nezávislosti v Kyjevě, neboť její důsledky hrály důležitou roli ve vývoji dalších okolností. V další kapitole zmiňuji základní prameny při utváření vztahů mezi Ruskem a vybranými anglosaskými státy. Následující kapitola popisuje vztahy mezi Ruskem a Evropskou unií a jejími vybranými členskými státy. Čtvrtá část práce zahrnuje krátký úvod do uskupení států BRICS se zvláštním zaměřením na vývoj vzájemných bilaterálních vztahů Ruska s Čínskou lidovou republikou. Poslední kapitola se věnuje analýze a vystupování Ruské federace v mezinárodních vztazích s důrazem na veřejnou diplomacii a aplikování jednotlivých teorií mezinárodních vztahů.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the foreign policy of selected states in relation to the Russian Federation in the period that occurred after the annexation of Crimea in 2014 by Russia. It is important to mention that some states also require a deeper description of mutual bilateral relations from the past for a better understanding of current events. The first part of my work describes the brief events of the Ukrainian crisis in 2013–2014 during the Independence Square revolution in Kyiv, as its consequences played an important role in the development of further circumstances. In the next chapter, the basic sources for the formation of relations between Russia and selected Anglo-Saxon states are mentioned. The following chapter describes the relations between Russia, the European Union, and its preferred member states. The fourth part of my work includes a short introduction to the BRICS group, with a special focus on the development of mutual relations between Russia and the People's Republic of China. The last part of my work is devoted to the analysis and performance of the Russian Federation in international relations with emphasis on public diplomacy and the application of individual theories of international relations.
