Awareness of secondary school students about specific learning disabilities (SLD)

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá informovaností žáků středních škol o problematice specifických poruch učení (SPU) a rovněž hloubkou a kvalitou těchto informací. Také se zabývá tím, jak žáci své spolužáky s těmito poruchami vnímají. V neposlední řadě zjišťujeme, jak podle nich pedagogové dokážou pracovat se žáky, kteří mají diagnostikované SPU. V teoretické části se seznámíme s jednotlivými poruchami učení, jejich základní definicí, přehledem, reedukací a kompenzací žáků. Dále se zabýváme jedincem na střední škole trpícím SPU a osobností pedagoga a jeho přístupem k žákům se SPU. Metody použité v teoretické části jsou zejména studium odborných zdrojů, jejich analýza, syntéza a komparace. Praktická část se zabývá tím, zda jsou žáci na SŠ dostatečně informováni o problematice specifických poruch učení a jestli na ně učitelé berou ohledy. Je záměrně orientována na žáky středních škol, jelikož při dotazování učitelů by mohlo dojít k zatajení některých informací a celý výzkum by mohl obsahovat nepřesné údaje. Použitou výzkumnou metodou bylo dotazníkové šetření žáků SŠ. Výsledky bakalářské práce budou sloužit jako doporučení pro pedagogickou praxi.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis deals with the awareness of secondary school students about specific learning disabilities (SLD), and it focuses on the depth and quality of this information. It also studies how the students perceive their schoolmates suffering from these disorders. Last but not least, we have attempted to find out how, in their opinion, the teachers are able to work with students diagnosed with SLD. In the theoretical part, there is information about different learning disorders, their basic definitions, overview, re-education, and compensation of students. Further, we have focused on an individual suffering from SLD who attends a secondary school, and on an educationalist’s personality and his / her approach to students diagnosed with SLD. Methods used in the theoretical part are mainly studies of specialised resources, their analysis, synthesis and comparison. The practical part discusses whether secondary school students are sufficiently informed about the issue of specific learning disabilities, and whether the teachers consider them. It intentionally focuses on secondary school students. If we had asked the teachers, some information could have been withheld. Therefore, the whole research could contain misleading data. The research method used was a survey among secondary school students. The results of this bachelor’s thesis will serve as recommendations for pedagogical practice.
