Drama as an educational method in the upper secondary schools

Abstract:

This thesis analyses the influence of high school theatre on the development of language skills and personal competences of high school students. The aim of this thesis is to determine which skills are being developed the most and to what extent through the application of dramatics to pedagogy. Given the broader nature of dramaturgy as a didactic concept, the theoretical part of this thesis is focused on the division of theatre into smaller components, which also provide the necessary support for the interpretation of the results found. Furthermore, the relationship between theatre and second language teaching is outlined through the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, including the suggestion of specific activities for educational staff. In the practical part of this thesis, the occurrence of different language competences in scripts for high school is being researched. At the same time, this part presents the results of quantitative and qualitative research of six Spanish-bilingual high schools in the Czech Republic. Through the theory and interconnectedness of the two types of research, specific factors emerge that fundamentally influence the overall effectiveness of theatre in pedagogical concept.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou vlivu středoškolského divadla na rozvoj jazykových znalostí i osobnostních kompetencí studentů středních škol. Cílem této práce je určit, které dovednosti jsou díky aplikaci dramaturgie do pedagogiky rozvíjeny nejvíce a v jaké míře. Vzhledem k širší povaze dramaturgie jakožto didaktického konceptu je teoretická část práce zaměřená na rozdělení divadla do menších komponentů, které zároveň poskytují nutnou oporu při interpretaci zjištěných výsledků. Dále je nastíněn vztah divadla a výuky cizích jazyků, a to skrze Společný evropský referenční rámec pro jazyky, včetně návrhu konkrétních aktivit pro pedagogické pracovníky. V praktické části této práce je zkoumán výskyt jednotlivých jazykových kompetencí ve scénářích pro středoškolské divadlo. Zároveň tato část předkládá výsledky kvantitativního i kvalitativního šetření šesti španělských bilingvních gymnázií v České republice. Díky teorii a vzájemné propojenosti obou výzkumů vyvstávají konkrétní faktory, které v pedagogickém konceptu zásadně ovlivňují celkovou efektivitu divadla.
