Diabetes mellitus (DM) je metabolické onemocnění se stále rostoucí prevalencí. Relativní nebo absolutní nedostatek insulinu vede ke vzniku poruch metabolismu, zvýšenému oxidačnímu stresu a snížení kapacity antioxidačních systémů, a následně k buněčnému a tkáňovému poškození. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease with increasing prevalence. Relative or absolute insulin deficiency leads to metabolic disorders, increased oxidative stress and decreased capacity of antioxidant systems and consequently to cell and tissue damage.
