Cultural and Social Reflections of Brass Band Music in the 19th-20th Century in the Surrounding of Kolín

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na dechovou hudbu a proměny jejích sociálních a kulturních funkcí v průběhu 19. a 20. století se sondou do dnešní doby. Zásadní je zaměření na dechovou hudbu a orchestry na Kolínsku. Úvodní část práce je zaměřena na vojenskou hudbu, která je stěžejní jako vzor pro kapely civilního typu. Další část je zaměřena především na dechové kapely v Čechách a na jejich typy, funkce a na rozdílnost jejich repertoáru. Pro hlavní část práce je důležité zaměření na osobu kapelníka Františka Kmocha a jeho kapelu, otázka důležitosti ZUŠ v Kolíně v rámci dechové hudby v regionu, význam Mládežnického dechového orchestru ZUŠ Kolín a otázka proměny hudebního festivalu Kmochův Kolín.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis focuses on wind music and the changes in its social and cultural functions during the 19th and 20th centuries with a probe to the present day. The focus is on wind music and orchestras in the Kolín region. The introductory part of the work is focused on military music, which is crucial as a model for civilian bands. The next part is focused mainly on wind bands in the Czech Republic and their types, functions and differences in their repertoire. For the main part of the work, it is important to focus on the person of the bandleader František Kmoch and his band, the question of the importance of ZUŠ in Kolín in brass music in the region, the importance of the Youth Brass Orchestra ZUŠ Kolín and the question of transformation of the music festival Kmochův Kolín.
