Teaching of Creole on the Reunion Island and Perspectives for Creole

Abstract:

Even if the Reunion creol is officially a part of the regional languages of France, by it´s origin and structure it faces the racial and sociocultural problems that refer to the language prestige. On the other hand, creol is an identity language of the inhabitants of the Reunion Island, therefore it should be spread. In this Master thesis we will deal with a paradigm of the French creols, in particular on the Reunion one, the langugage prestige and teaching of Reunion creol. Last but not least, we will describe the possible ways of it´s conservation and spread.

Abstract:

Réunionská kreolština sice formálně patří do skupiny regionálních jazyků Francie, ovšem svým původem a strukturou čelí mnohým rasovým a sociokulturním problémům, s čímž je spojena otázka jazykové prestiže. Jelikož se jedná o identitární jazyk obyvatel ostrova, měla by být valorizována a dále šířena. V magisterské práci rozebereme paradigma jazykové prestiže, francouzské kreolštiny, réunionskou kreolštinu a také otázku, zda a jak by se tato měla na Réunionu vyučovat. Pozornost budeme rovněž věnovat cestám, jak lze tento jazyk dále zachovávat a šířit.
