Specifics of computer aided translation - analyse of its profit and most common problems

Abstract:

This master thesis deals with the basic presentation of CAT-tools, analysis of errors arising from translation using CAT-tools on the example of Transit NXT software and finding the students' opinion about working with this software at the beginning of the training and then after passing the seminar. The theoretical part focuses on the general presentation of CAT-tools, a description of Transit's core functions, its advantages and disadvantages, a description of the work in this software and an explanation of the term translation memory. The practical part is devoted to the discovery of the students' opinion on CAT-tools and the Transit software at the beginning of the training and then after the seminar. In addition, three specific translations of student translations that were made in the Transit software are analyzed. All the results obtained from the questionnaires are presented and evaluated both in the conclusions behind the individual chapters and at the conclusion at the end of the work. All the results obtained from the individual analyzes are presented and evaluated at the end of the whole work.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá základním představením CAT-nástrojů, analýzou chyb vznikajících při překladu s pomocí CAT-nástrojů na příkladu softwaru Transit NXT a zjištěním názoru studentů na práci s tímto softwarem na začátku zaškolení a poté po absolvování semináře. Teoretická část je zaměřena na obecné představení CAT-nástrojů, popis základních funkcí Transitu, jeho výhody a nevýhody, popis práce v tomto softwaru a vysvětlení pojmu překladová paměť. Praktická část se věnuje zjišťování názoru studentů na CAT-nástroje a software Transit na začátku zaškolení a poté po absolvování semináře. Dále jsou analyzovány tři konkrétní pasáže studentských překladů, které byly provedeny v softwaru Transit. Všechny získané výsledky z dotazníků jsou představeny a vyhodnoceny jak v závěrech za jednotlivými kapitolami, tak v závěru na konci práce. Všechny získané výsledky z jednotlivých analýz jsou představeny a vyhodnoceny v závěru celé práce.
