Analysis of the economic consequences of unemployment in Kazakhstan (role of the education level on unemployment)

Abstract:

This master's thesis explores the economic consequences of unemployment in Kazakhstan, focusing on the influence of education level on unemployment rates. The study begins with a comprehensive literature review that outlines existing theories and empirical findings related to unemployment and education. The practical part of this study examines the intricate relationship between education and unemployment, focusing on youth unemployment rates in the context of economic indicators such as GDP growth, inflation, and higher education enrollment rates from 2013 to 2023. Statistical analysis employs a comprehensive dataset to explore correlations and causal relationships through correlation matrices and Ordinary Least Squares regression models. Summary statistics provide a foundational understanding of data characteristics. Additionally, an unemployment questionnaire was conducted, yielding contingency tables that highlight the interplay between educational attainment and employment levels. This analysis is further enriched by a SWOT analysis that examines the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats associated with the relationship between education and unemployment. The results obtained provide significant insight into the dynamics of unemployment, emphasizing the importance of aligning education policy with the requirements of the labor market. The study concludes with recommendations aimed at reducing unemployment through improved educational strategies promoting economic stability.
