The Digital Transformation of Business: A Proposed Framework for Achieving Organisational Transformation

Abstract:

Digital transformation continues to have significant aspect on various aspects of society, the evidence of its impact is visible and self-evident particular across various industry sectors. However, as digital technologies continue to evolve and transform society, the leadership teams of various business organisations continue to struggle in their quest to effectively harness the potentials of these technological innovations in transforming and improving various aspects of their operations and place their companies on a path of sustainable growth and profitability. The reasons for these challenges are not farfetched. The lack of conceptual clarity about digital transformation, and the absence of a scientifically validated digital transformation model have continued to make the journey towards achieving successful digital transformation of their companies a herculean task. It is in the light of these identified challenges that this research has been conceived, with a focus of achieving practical and theoretical objectives that would enhance the understanding of the subject of digital transformation from an industry perspective and provide a valuable information systems tool that would aid business organisations in achieving success with their digital transformation initiatives.

Abstract:

Digitální transformace má i nadále významný aspekt v různých aspektech společnosti, důkazy o jejím dopadu jsou viditelné a evidentní zejména v různých průmyslových odvětvích. Jelikož se však digitální technologie neustále vyvíjejí a transformují společnost, vedoucí týmy různých obchodních organizací nadále bojují ve snaze efektivně využít potenciál těchto technologických inovací při transformaci a zlepšování různých aspektů svého provozu a směřování svých společností na cestu udržitelného růstu a ziskovosti. Důvody těchto výzev nejsou příliš podrobné. Nedostatek koncepční jasnosti ohledně digitální transformace a absence vědecky ověřeného modelu digitální transformace nadále činí z cesty k dosažení úspěšné digitální transformace jejich společností herkulovský úkol. Ve světle těchto identifikovaných výzev byl tento výzkum koncipován se zaměřením na dosažení praktických a teoretických cílů, které by posílily porozumění předmětu digitální transformace z pohledu průmyslu a poskytly hodnotný nástroj informačních systémů, který by pomohl obchodní organizace při dosahování úspěchu se svými iniciativami digitální transformace.
