Islamic banking in the contex of word banking

Abstract:

Thesis is concerned with the status of Islamic banking in the complex of world banking. It is divided to four chapters. The substance of the first two chapters focuses on a definition of basic terms of Islamic and mainstream banking, describing the principles and comparison of these systems. Pointing out the core of the Islamic values, which are embedded in Quran and therefore create theoretical basis, Islamic banking applies these principles in practise with no compromise. Consequently, the second chapter clarifies significant differences between Islamic and mainstream bank. The third and fourth chapter are devoted to impact of Islamic banks in the world targeting to find the answers to financial problems of the mainstream banking, which contemporarily appears as a consequence of failure of various factors current. It researches perspectives Islamic banks in the world of conventional banking coming out of the examples chosen countries, where Islamic banks are already active. At the same time it researches issues of credit crisis, which currently occupy contemporary financial world with the goal to answer the question whether the model ‘mixed bank’, which could establish main Islamic principles (esp. ethics and morality) in market economics and whether this mixed bank model would be able to eliminate potential development of further world financial crisis in the future.

Abstract:

Práca sa zaoberá postavením islamského bankovníctva v komplexe svetového bankovníctva. Je rozdelená do štyroch kapitol. V prvých dvoch kapitolách sa zameriava na definovanie základných pojmov islamského a konvenčného bankovníctva, priblíženie princípov a porovnanie týchto systémov. Okrem poukázania na podstatu islamských hodnôt, ktoré sú zakotvené v Koráne a tvoria tak teoretický základ, islamské bankovníctvo nekompromisne uplatňuje dané princípy aj v praxi. Druhá kapitola následne objasňuje významné rozdiely medzi islamskou a konvenčnou bankou. Tretia a štvrtá kapitola sa bližšie venujú pôsobeniu islamských bánk vo svete s cieľom nájsť odpovede na finančné problémy konvenčných bánk, ktoré sa v súčasnosti objavujú ako dôsledok zlyhania viacerých faktorov súčasného systému. Práca skúma perspektívy islamských bánk vo svete konvenčného bankovníctva vychádzajúc z príkladov – vybraných krajín, v ktorých už v súčasnosti islamské banky pôsobia. Zároveň skúma problematiku finančných kríz, ktoré v súčasnosti vo finančnom svete rezonujú s cieľom odpovedať na otázku, či by model „zmiešanej“ banky, ktorá by v rámci trhovej ekonomiky dokázala presadzovať hlavné islamské princípy týkajúce sa etiky a morálky, pomohol eliminovať vznik ďalšej finančnej svetovej krízy v budúcnosti.
